"Water gets warmer. Drinks get colder. Music gets louder. Nights get longer. Life gets better." - Anonymous
It's that time of year again, I am sure it comes around quicker as I get older! Although a great time of year with lots of fun, laughs, time with friends and family... it is also filled with parties, lots of alcohol, long hours, deadlines, stress, lack of sleep... a recipe for BURNOUT...
Here is how Taste.E are getting through this year:
Make sure you are eating REGULARLY during the day. 5 smaller meals is far better than one HUGE meal right before bed - yes, I've done it too! With the silly season comes less time to plan ahead with increased stress, longer hours to meet strict deadlines before the Christmas break...To keep going and maximise productivity you need to be fuelling with the RIGHT foods and often! Try smoothies and add in some protein powder - these are super quick and you can pack a lot of goodness into one glass!
What's Your Poison?
I am not going to pretend for one second this will be a good month for your liver... so try and 'drink wisely'! Choose your drink of choice ... Tequila? Rum? Red Wine? and STICK TO IT! Mixing drinks will never end well on the night, or the next day... !
Water, water, water, WATER! Especially on these scorching hot days, make sure you are keeping hydrated. Even if you aren't drinking alcohol it is important to keep your fluids up. Put a bottle on your desk, in your handbag, by the bed! The more accessible it is, the more likely you are to drink it. A goal-orientated type? Buy a bigger bottle of water and aim to finish it throughout the day!
It's All About ME Time
Take time out to do things just for YOU. Check in and reconnect every now and then to keep yourself on track. It might be a walk along the beach, a coffee with a friend, a 20 minute meditation? For me, it's the gym - a heavy weight session, or an ABT class to sweat out the day's stress is my cure! I try to set aside an hour a day to train and clear my head.
The dreaded trip home... during this time of year it's even more challenging to get around! Planning ahead is your best strategy. Leave the car at home, jump on public transport or book an UBER. Leave extra travel time and book your trip home in advance of when you are really ready to leave. This will maximise your time with friends and family and save you "waiting".
Haven't used UBER yet? Drop us an email firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll tell you how to ride and SAVE with our own UBER discount code!
Stay safe this silly season!
